STRUTHERS -- Lou Coppola had a no-hitter for the six innings and finished with a two-hitter as R & amp;J Trucking defeated the Cleveland Panthers, 4-0, Sunday in the Connie Mack state baseball tournament at Cene Park.
In the seventh-inning, Coppola gave up a lead off single to Rick Gatins and a two-out hit to Dustin Zielasiewicz.
Coppola finished with eleven strikeouts, and did not walk a batter.
Jim Pasquine tripled to drive home the first run while Josh Fyffe drove home two more runs with a triple in the fifth.
Fyffe scored the fourth run on a wild pitch. Pasquine added a single while David Patrick had a double.
Monday at 3 p.m., R & amp;J faces Whamby on Cene 1 in a winner's bracket game.
Wharmby Sports 8, Summer Eagles 2
Wharmby pounded out 12 hits as Dave Diyorio tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Joe Burnich's three hits included a double and he scored three times.
Tom Popadak also had three hits, scored three runs and drove home a pair while John Thomas and Eric Pirtz had two hits each.
Astro Falcons 4, Batcage Bulldogs 0
Matt Weir tossed a five-hit shutout with nine strikeouts to keep the Astro Falcons alive.
Jared Bartholomew had three hits, including a two-run home run, to cap the three-run Astro second inning.
Mike Doda added two singles while Tony Kriz had a double for the Bulldogs.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 6, Jackson Polar Bears 4
Trailing 4-1, Rondinelli scored three times in the fourth and twice in the fifth to come from behind and eliminate Jackson.
Rondinelli took advantage of four errors to score four unearned runs. Cory Nesbitt and Matt Katich hit back-to-back run-scoring triples in the fifth to give the lead to Rondinelli. Vince Riola went the distance for the win. He had three strikeouts.
Mink Financial 12, Massillon Tigers 4
Mink stayed alive as they scored nine times in the top of the eighth inning.
Mark Novotny had four hits and scored three runs while Richie Tissone had three hits and drove home three runs for Mink.
Ed Deluca added three hits with Brett Grabman, Mike Barone, and Corey Vukovic getting two safeties each. Andy Geibel went the first seven innings for the win with five strikeouts.
Nate Heiman had two hits for the Tigers.
Stark County Stars 2, Livi Steel 1
Livi Steel was the first local team knocked out of the tournament as they managed only two hits off Justin Gill of the Stark County Stars. Gill had three strikeouts while Troy Ellis had two hits.
Mike Meintel also had three strikeouts in the complete game loss for Livi.
Late Saturday
R & amp;J Trucking 7, Troy Post 43 6
Trailing 5-1 after two innings, R & amp;J Trucking rallied for the win. Ben Miller had three hits and drove home two runs in the four-run fourth inning.
C.J. Morris also had three hits and drove home the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the fifth inning.
David Patrick, who had come out of the bullpen twice in the Class B championship series for wins on Thursday, came on in the bottom of the sixth and picked up the save, getting two double plays.
Xavier Godoy, and Travis McCarthy had two hits each for R & amp;J. Nick Mascari went 31/3 innings in relief for the win.
Ohio Trojans 6, Astro Falcons 2
Astro Falcons committed five errors that led to three unearned runs in the opening-round loss.
Cameron Konop and Mike Dota had two hits each for the Falcons while losing pitcher Drew Turocy doubled.
Cody McPherson had three hits, one a double for the Trojans. Austin Ritson tossed a complete game for the win.
