Police are searching for bank robber

The robber got away in a stolen car.
FARRELL, Pa. -- Local authorities and the FBI continue searching for leads to locate the man who robbed the Sky Bank on Sharon-New Castle Road.
A man wearing a scarf around his head and saying he had a bomb robbed the bank Thursday, said Riley Smoot, chief of the Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Department.
Smoot said his department is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Sky Bank Security investigating the robbery.
Smoot said the robber took an undisclosed amount when he left the bank at 2:40 p.m. Thursday.
The man was seen leaving the bank in a car that was stolen the previous day at the Country Fair gas station in Sharon, the chief said.
By coincidence, the father of the woman who owns the car spotted the late-model Chevrolet Lumina in the bank parking lot during the robbery and stopped to see if it was his daughter's car, Smoot said.
The man tried to block the robber's exit from the parking lot, but the robber drove through the bushes to get around him and took off, Smoot added.
Authorities believe he went to Sharon by way of Tenth Street and then into Hermitage, where he was last seen on U.S. Route 62.
Robbery
Smoot said inside the bank, the robber yelled that he had a bomb. Only his eyes were left uncovered by his scarf.
The robber ordered everyone to the floor and then jumped over the counter and removed cash from three teller stations. Smoot said no one was injured. Only one customer was in the bank at the time.
