NABF lightweight title on line at Mountaineer



CHESTER, W. Va. -- Edner "Cherry Bomb" Cherry (20-4-2, 9 KOs) of Wauchula, Fla., will battle Daniel Alicea (30-5-2, 22 KOs) of Camden, N.J., for the NABF lightweight title on Aug. 11 at Mountaineer Race Track & amp; Gaming Resort.
ESPN2 will televise the main event bout.
Cherry is fresh off an 11-round TKO over previously unbeaten Monte Meza-Clay.
Alicea is coming off three straight wins including a second-round TKO over Juan Gomez (23-4).
Meza-Clay (20-1, 13 KOs), the IBA world junior lightweight champion from Rankin, Pa., will face Dean White (13-4-1, 6 KOs) of Reston, Va. in the co-feature junior lightweight bout.
White is coming off a draw with (14-0) Nick Cassal in Las Vegas. White has only been stopped once in his career, which was six years ago.
Kimbrough on card
Verquan Kimbrough (14-1, 7 KOs) of Aliquippa, Pa., will face Leo Martinez (8-8, 4 KOs) of Columbus in an eight-round lightweight bout.
A six-round heavyweight match will pit Brian Minto (25-1, 14 KOs) of Butler, Pa., against Andy Sample (34-13-2, 22 KOs) of Topeka, Kan.
Minto is coming off of nationally televised wins over Danny Batchelder (24-1-1) and Billy Zumbrun (19-6-1).
The fight card begins at 7:30 p.m.
