HUDSON UNDERSTANDS HER LATEST ROLE

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Kate Hudson knows when you're married to a rocker like she is, you have to expect the party will be at your house. And that's fine with her.
"You can't go into that world and not think that you're gonna have musicians crashing in your house at least 346 days out of the year," said Hudson, who is married to Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes.
But Hudson's character in "You, Me and Dupree" doesn't marry a musician. He's a yuppie businessman with a slacker for a best friend (Owen Wilson) who takes over their house.
The movie starts with her character's wedding in Hawaii, and Hudson said it was difficult to stay suitably bronzed.
"It was a nightmare trying to keep a tan up in this movie," the 27-year-old actress told AP Radio in a recent interview.
Hudson said she was uncomfortable on a tanning bed. "I'm on this intercom thing the whole time going, 'Is the sound of this OK? I mean, is this thing going to fall on my head?"'
And a spray-on tan wasn't for her.
"I turned bright orange," she said.
Feel free to make your'pity the fool' jokes now
PASADENA, Calif. -- Mr. T has given himself a makeover.
After witnessing the destruction from Hurricane Katrina, the former TV action star shed the piles of gold chains that were his signature look.
"As a spiritual man, I felt it would be a sin against my God for me to wear all that gold again because I spent a lot of time with the less fortunate," the 54-year-old actor said Thursday at the Television Critics Association's summer meeting.
"I saw some, I call it 'sorry celebrities.' They'll go down there and hook up with the people to take a photo-op. I said, 'How disgusting.' If you're not going to go down there with a check and a hammer and a nail to help the people, don't go down there."
Mr. T, whose real name is Lawrence Tero, stars in "I Pity the Fool," debuting in October on TV Land. He dispenses advice to viewers who are struggling with life's problems.
The former star of "The A-Team" said he's about more than his rough-and-tough image.
"Yes, I am qualified to beat people up. But I am pretty intelligent," he said. "That's what throws people off. If you've been through something, that gives you an authority that you can speak on certain things. That's why people relate to me. I pull no punches."
