HOWLAND Township trustees
Highlights of Wednesday's Howland Board of Trustees meeting:
Approved a zone change of less than an acre on the east side of North Road, about 400 feet north of North Road and East Market Street, so a drive-through can be part of a future Dunkin' Donuts. Landowner J.D.B. Family Ltd. of Chagrin Falls will lease the property to operate the doughnut shop.
Agreed to pay a $100 fee to participate in the state's cooperative purchasing program. The program allows the purchase of items, including vehicles, at a lower cost because they are bought by the state in bulk.
Declared the properties at 3889 Southwood Drive and 459 Willow Drive as nuisances because of high grass. The township will mow the grass and place a $150 lien on each property.
Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will not conduct a hazardous materials collection event in the township because the agency has a site in Warren that continuously collects such materials, reported Trustee Rick Clark. The district was spending about $30,000 for each off-site collection event.
