CSB nonunion employees receive pay increases
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County Children Services Board has approved a pay increase for the agency's nonunion employees.
The employees were given three-year salary agreements, with a $2,900 initial raise, effective Jan. 1, 2006, and a 3 percent raise in 2007 and 2008, said Denise Stewart, executive director.
The process was initially delayed because nonunion agreements cannot be discussed until union contract negotiations end, she added.
This decision will raise 22 workers' salaries, ranging from $21,147 to $68,078 a year, she said.
Nonunion positions include fiscal officer, computer specialist, secretary 1, office manager, personnel officer, child-welfare casework supervisor 1, management analyst, chief supervisor 3 and group life managers.
Stewart also said there is money in the budget to support these increases, and that they also will be reimbursed by the state. CSB uses a federal reimbursement program that covers various activities and costs for government agencies, she added.
Other changes made involved a 30-percent increase for supervisors who are on-call, she said.
The stipend they receive will go from $200 a week to $260 a week. Both union and nonunion employees also will be entitled to cash in 40 hours of vacation a year in exchange for a week's pay, she said.
