2 charged in bootleg case

AUSTINTOWN -- Two people were arraigned in Mahoning County Court on Wednesday on charges that bootlegged movies were found in their car.
Billy Carter, 29, of Cleveland, and Sharell Evans, 19, of Bedford, Ohio, have posted bonds of $2,500 each. They will be back in court for pretrials Aug. 21.
Carter is charged with criminal simulation, and Evans is charged with complicity to criminal simulation.
Austintown police stopped the pair on Interstate 80 at 9:05 a.m. Monday after witnessing traffic violations, a police report says.
During the traffic stop, Carter gave police permission to search the car. He said he and his family had been shopping in New York, the report says.
Police said they found boxes of movies and CDs in the trunk.
Movies included "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which is in movie theaters now.
