Astro Falcons 8, Heights Titans 7,10 innings
STRUTHERS -- Astro Falcons scored the tying and winning runs on a throwing error in the bottom of the 10th inning, upending Heights Titans to win the Mickey Mantle state tournament Tuesday at Cene Park. Heights out-hit Astros, 18-8, but committed eight errors, which led to four unearned runs. Trent Vollinger hit a one out infield single to start the Astro rally. Pinch-hitter Dan Perkins reached on an error by the second baseman, putting runners on the corners. Perkins then stole second and on a bunt by Ryan Rovnak, the catcher's throw was wild, allowing the tying and winning runs to score. Vollinger and Jared Turocy had two hits for Astros. Jason Simons went four innings in relief for the win while Mark Turnbull tossed three scoreless innings. Matt Rosinski, who had pitched a complete game win over Rondinelli, suffered the loss. He went 31/3 innings and allowed just one hit and also had three hits and drove home three runs while John Christani added three hits for Heights Titans.
R & amp;J Trucking 8, Wadsworth Wildcats 0
R & amp;J Trucking won the fifth-place game and the final spot in the regional tournament in Cincinnati. Ross Revella had three hits, while Dan Banna, Bob Herberger and winning pitcher Jay Leeworthy added two hits each. Leeworthy threw five innings of shutout ball, giving up two hits with seven strikeouts for the win. Losing pitcher Travis Danner had a double for Wadsworth.
Heights Titans 4, Rondinelli Tuxedo 1
Rosinski gave up three hits with five strikeouts to get the victory and also had a triple and a double at the plate. Mike Carnahan doubled and Steve Zubyk pitched a complete game with four strikeouts as Rondinelli finished the tournament in third place.
