"Nightmares & amp; Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King" (9 p.m., TNT): Keep all the lights on! It's an anthology series of "Twilight Zone"-like tales that dabble in the creepy and bizarre. The dialogue-free opener, "Battleground," has William Hurt playing an assassin who finds himself being attacked by a bunch of evil, and highly lethal, toy soldiers. We told you it was bizarre.
"American Masters" ( 9 p.m., PBS): When Woody Guthrie sang "This Land is Your Land," he meant it. The artist who expressed populism, patriotism and politics in his enduring music is profiled. Often portrayed as a talented hillbilly musician, the true measure of Guthrie's complexity could be seen in his circle of friends and acquaintances, including John Steinbeck, Aaron Copland and Martha Graham. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and U2 are among the diverse performers who have given voice to his art. Also detailed in the biography are the personal flaws and tragedy that beset Guthrie, who died in 1967 at 55 of an inherited disease (Huntington's chorea) that left him unable to move or talk before it claimed his life.
"Project Runway" (10 p.m. Bravo): Supermodel Heidi Klum returns to preside over the third season of "Project Runway." You know the routine: Once again, the highly addictive reality series will feature 15 wannabe fashion designers who go head-to-head in a series of intriguing challenges to determine who makes the cut.
