Palmer Avenue stickup
YOUNGSTOWN -- An "after party" following a night at a bar turned into an unpleasant experience for 15 friends who found themselves facing a handgun during a robbery around 4:15 a.m. Sunday in a residence in the 500 block of Palmer Avenue. Witnesses told police that a thin, black man with a partial mask and carrying a backpack forced his way in through the front door of the home. At gunpoint, the man took $600 from the homeowner and told the others to give up their money. The intruder told the women to empty their purses on the floor, then he took what he wanted and fled.
Man shot walking home
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police took Christopher D. Taylor, 28, of the 200 block of East Auburndale Avenue to St. Elizabeth Health Center at 3:16 a.m. Sunday for treatment after he was shot in the leg. Taylor told police he had been at a bar in the 3200 block of South Avenue and was walking home when it happened. The victim said he was crossing a parking lot on the west side of South Avenue, north of Auburndale Avenue, when a royal blue 1992 or 1993 Chevy S-10 blazer approached and someone inside opened fire. Police found seven shells in the 300 block of East Auburndale.
