WNBA ROUNDUP | Saturday's game
Sun 82, Mercury 77
UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Katie Douglas scored 22 points as Connecticut rallied from a 19-point deficit to beat Phoenix. The Mercury held the Eastern-Conference leading Sun to just nine points in the second quarter, but Connecticut scored 31 in the third quarter to match the Mercury's second-half total. Douglas' 3-pointer with 7:39 left gave the Sun (14-5) its first lead since the game's opening minute. Phoenix (7-10) kept pace until Douglas made a pair of free throws with 1:37 left, giving the Sun a 76-75 lead. Lindsay Whalen's acrobatic basket with 53.8 seconds made it 78-75 lead and put the game out of reach. Douglas scored 14 points in the second half and Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 17 of her 21 after the break. McWilliams-Franklin also had 12 rebounds, and Jones had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Diana Taurasi returned to Connecticut and scored 13 of her game-high 25 points in the first half, but rookie Cappie Pondexter, the WNBA's leading scorer, was held to just 10.
