NOTEBOOK | Scrappers vs. Doubledays

Let's do it again: Despite facing Auburn in six straight games, Scrappers infielder Jared Goedert will hate to see the Doubledays leave. He hit 10-for-23 in the week-long series (.434). The Scrappers won four of the six meeting after the Doubledays won 10 of 16 games in 2005.
Bunching them up: In the bottom of the fifth inning Cirillo Cumberbatch was on second base with two outs. Then Stephen Douglas singled to center to score Cumberbatch and tie the game 2-all. After Andy Lytle singled Douglas to second base, Goedert singled him home for a 3-2 lead. Kelly Edmundson singled to left, scoring Lytle with the go-ahead run.
He'll be OK: Lytle started at shortstop and is batting .394, third best in the New York-Penn League. After he slid home in the fifth inning, just beating the Auburn catcher, Lytle was replaced in the field by Adam Davis. "I don't think he'll play for the next couple of days," Mahoning Valley Scrappers manager Rouglas Odor said. Lytle has been nursing a strained groin muscle but has been playing through it. "It's nothing bad. He should be OK in a couple of days."
Roster moves: The Scrappers added two position players Friday. Infielder Josh Rodriguez, a second-round pick in June's draft, was just signed after he helped Rice reach the College World Series. He hit .344 with 11 home runs for the Owls. Outfielder Jason Denham returned after a stay with the Lake County Captains. He started the season with the Scrappers where he hit .313 in four games before the transfer.
