Mount Carmel Festival offers five days of food, live music
GIRARD -- The annual Mount Carmel Festival sponsored by the Italian Fraternal Home, 33 Wilson Avenue, will run Wednesday through July 16.
Pre-festival activities will be on Tuesday when food and game booths will be set up, and music will be provided at 8 p.m. by the band Cleveland Flats.
Food concessions and games for children will be provided each night of the festival starting at 6 p.m.
Bands scheduled to play at 8 p.m. each day are:
*Wednesday: Mike Roncone Band.
*Thursday: Capris.
*Friday: Frank Gallo.
*Saturday: First Degree.
*Sunday: Margarita Blue Coat Band.
Main festivities will take place on Sunday -- the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. A parade will be at 10 a.m. carrying an image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel starting at the Italian Fraternal Home Hall and proceeding to St. Rose Church, where a service will take place. The parade also goes to Girard Cemetery at 2 p.m., Kerr Cemetery at 3 p.m. and Amen Corner at 3:30 p.m.
The Girard Community Band will play on the Italian Fraternal Home grounds at 3:30 p.m.
Events culminate with fireworks at the Girard Viaduct at 11 p.m. presented by Zambelli Fireworks.
