Faulty lamp causedfire at Ozzy's house
LONDON -- Flames that scorched Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's English country mansion were the result of a faulty lamp, the fire service said.
Neither the couple nor their children, Amy, Jack and Kelly, were at the house in Jordans, 26 miles west of London, when the fire broke out Thursday morning, a family spokesman said. Paramedics treated a member of the household staff for smoke inhalation.
Kelly Osbourne, 22, had left shortly before the blaze started.
"We were able to prevent the fire from spreading," said Fraser Pearson, a spokesman for the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue service. "It was relatively small."
The blaze, which caused minor fire and smoke damage to the entrance hallway of the mansion, was the latest in several domestic mishaps to befall Ozzy Osbourne, who earned fame as a heavy metal rocker in the 1970s, and his wife in recent years.
The couple had to flee their home last year when a fire broke out in the living room. In 2004, Ozzy Osbourne unsuccessfully tackled a thief as he raided the house and stole a large amount of jewelry.
Russell Crowe, wifehave second child
SYDNEY, Australia -- Danielle Spencer, wife of Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe, gave birth Friday to the couple's second child.
Tennyson Spencer Crowe was born at Royal North Shore Hospital weighing about 8 pounds, said Crowe's Australian manager, Grant Vandenberg.
"Mother, father and baby are doing extremely well," he said.
It is the second child for the celebrity couple and a brother for 2-year-old Charlie.
Crowe -- who won an Oscar for his role in the 2000 film "Gladiator" -- married Spencer in a star-studded Australian wedding in 2003.
Crowe, who was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, had said he planned to be in the delivery room with a video camera when the baby was born.
The 42-year-old actor has said fatherhood changed his life.
"I'm very involved in being a dad," Crowe told TV show "Entertainment Tonight" in May 2005.
Robert Downey Jr.will write memoirs
NEW YORK -- Robert Downey Jr., whose own life story at times has been gripping, intends to write his memoirs.
The 41-year-old actor has signed a deal with HarperEntertainment, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, the company announced Thursday. The book is set to be released in 2008.
The publisher, which did not disclose the terms of pact, promised a "candid look at the highs and lows of his life and career."
"He has an intelligence which shines through all his performances, revealing his intellect as well as his acting abilities," said Marjorie Braman, an executive with the publishing company. "His dramatic personal life, often at odds with his career, adds a layer of complexity to who he is."
Downey suffered from recurring drug and alcohol problems in the 1990s, prison time, court-ordered rehab and probation that ended in 2002.
He stars as a drug user in the new movie "A Scanner Darkly," which opened Friday.
