Fair schedules kids' activities

BAZETTA -- The Trumbull Soil & amp; Water Conservation District will be conducting educational activities for children at the Trumbull County Fair this year.
The SWCD will be hosting these activities daily at 1, 3, and 5 p.m. starting Wednesday and going through Sunday. Each day will deal with a different environmental topic and will include a "Make It and Take It" craft project. The children will be able to keep and take home their creation. There is no age limit for the activities. The schedule is as follows:
*Wednesday: "Squirmy Wormy Friends," which focuses on composting. The kids will make a pet pipe-cleaner worm.
*Thursday: "Soil Art," which focuses on the many types, textures and colors of dirt. Kids will paint a picture with soil.
*Friday: "Fun with Frogs" will show children several types of frogs native to our area and present the sounds they make. Children will try to duplicate the sounds.
*Saturday: "Dragonfly's Delight" will focus on wetlands and their functions. The kids will make and come home with a kazoo that they turned into a dragonfly, one of the wetlands' most prominent species.
*Sunday: "Grow Your Own Butterfly" will look into metamorphosis and life cycles of animals. Children will glue common household items to illustrate the life cycle of a butterfly.
The Trumbull SWCD activities area is in the red agriculture display building between the midway and the grandstand.
