CAMPUS NOTES | In the spotlight



BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE, BEREA
Amy Fox of Kinsman, Sean Koch of Lordstown, Janeen Masternick of Youngstown, Kelly Williams of Canfield and Leanora Lange of Newton Falls have been inducted into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society. Members are selected for superior academic work.
OHIO UNIVERSITY, ATHENS
Andy Goodhart of Mecca, a junior political science major, has won the nationally competitive David L. Boren National Security Education Program Scholarship and will receive between $16,000 and $20,000 to study next year in Aman, Jordan. The son of Tim and Kathy Goodhart and Maplewood High School graduate will research his undergraduate thesis on Islamist and early Israeli militant religious organizations while in Jordan. Goodhart is president of the Ohio University Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and will graduate with a combination bachelor's/master's degree in political science through the Honors Tutorial College.
WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY, SPRINGFIELD
Ann Hubbard, daughter of Dr. Gary and Carol Hubbard of Canfield, graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in early childhood education. She had two minors in sociology and dance. Hubbard, who was president of the Wittenberg Student Dance Company, is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa senior honorary, Mortar Board Honorary, Pick-n-Pen Honorary, Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society and Education Honorary.
UNIVERSITY OF AKRON
Christy Holland Norman was selected as a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be inducted in the fall. The interdisciplinary society recognizes first- and second-year students for outstanding academic achievement and only students in the top 20th percentile and with a 3.4 grade point average are invited to join. A daughter of Al and Carol Norman of Boardman, she will be a sophomore in the fall and has not declared a major.
UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON
Matthew Thomas, son of Anthony and Karen Thomas of Canfield, is a summer intern at NCR Corp. in Dayton. A graduate of Canfield High School, he is a senior management information systems major in the school of business. Thomas is a 2006 dean's list designee, past student senator and member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
CLEVELAND CLINIC RADIATION THERAPY PROGRAM
Lisa M. LaPresta, daughter of Elizabeth LaPresta of Youngstown, and the George LaPresta, has completed the one-year Cleveland Clinic Radiation Therapy Program and received certification in radiation therapy. She previously graduated from Kent State University Salem Campus with an associate degree in radiologic technology.
HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL, BOSTON
Andrea M. Selak of New York City earned a master's in business administration. She is a 2000 graduate of Notre Dame University and 1996 graduate of Ursuline High School. Selak is associated with McKinsey and Co., a global management consultant firm in New York. Her parents are August and Maria Selak of Girard.
