Taylorcraft owners club reunion will feature food, flights and fun
ALLIANCE -- The 34th annual Taylorcraft Owner's Club Fly-In & amp; Old-Timer's Reunion event will be today through Sunday at the Alliance-Barber Airport here.
Former Taylorcraft employees and current owners of the airplane will attend the event, which is hosted by the Taylorcraft Foundation and Barber Aircraft Inc. Taylorcraft previously has operated in and around Alliance.
A commemorative flight over the old Taylorcraft factory on Armour Road is planned for the prototype Model A Taylorcraft at noon today. The Model A was first brought to Alliance on July 7, 1936.
Breakfast will be served beginning at 7 at the airport Saturday and Sunday, and pizza and chicken will be available Saturday evening. A small parking donation after 9 a.m. is required.
The three-day event, open to the public, includes presentations, flight demonstrations, forums and meetings.
Vintage planes
Vintage airplanes from all over the United States, Canada and Mexico will be at the event, including planes from World War II. Another attraction will be flying and skydiving by Canton Airsports.
On Saturday morning, the Taylorcraft Old-Timer's will have its own early-bird breakfast at 8 at Don Pancho's Restaurant on West State Street. A church service is planned for 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
The airport is three miles north of Alliance on 13820 Union Ave. (state Route 225). For more information, contact Forrest, Patricia or Kelli Barber at (330) 823-1168 or go to www.taylorcraft.org/.
