NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The 18th annual Fireworks Festival will kick off Saturday in downtown.
Free arts and crafts for children as well as rides and entertainment are planned from 3 to 10 p.m. on the city's Columbus Inner Belt.
Performing from 3 to 5 p.m. will be Wildfire; from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. will be All Night Rhythm Band; and from 8 to 10 p.m. Another Local Band and the idol competition.
The American Cancer Society will hold its Ducky Derby at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks by Zambelli International will be at 10 p.m.

Barricade removal
BROOKFIELD -- Warren-Sharon Road between Brookfield Avenue and Bedford Road will be closed between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. today. Workers will be removing centerline barricades at the bridge over Yankee Run. A.P. O'Horo Co. is replacing the bridge for the Trumbull County Engineer's Office.
Weekend road closing
YOUNGSTOWN -- Wick Avenue from Service Road to the Wick Avenue Parking Deck will be closed during the Summer Festival of the Arts on Saturday and Sunday.
If arriving from the north, take alternate route Fifth Avenue to Lincoln Avenue and park in the Lincoln Avenue deck or continue along to Wick Avenue and park in the Wick Avenue deck. If coming from the south use Wick Avenue and park in the Wick Avenue deck. The M-24 parking lot (tailgate lot) will be open as well. Watch for detour signs to parking. In all cases, parking is free except during Forte on the Fifty, which takes place Friday night.
Lake Milton boil order
LAKE MILTON -- Local residents are being asked to boil all water to be used for drinking or cooking for three minutes from 8 a.m. today until noon Saturday because of a repair to the water main serving Alois Lane, Driftwood Street and Lillian Drive, the Mahoning County Sanitary Engineer's office said.
Bakery robbed
YOUNGSTOWN - A 2-foot-by-2-foot hole was found in the rear wall of Party Pastry, 2732 Glenwood Ave., when police responded to a break-in early Wednesday morning. A cash drawer containing an undetermined amount of money was missing. No suspects were found on the premises.
Work site vandalized
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kay Co., a subcontractor in the construction of the new East High School building, reported that the job site on Bennington Avenue was vandalized Tuesday . Workers returned to the site Wednesday to find several pieces of large metal duct work severely damaged and no longer usable.
Credit card fraud
YOUNGSTOWN -- A woman checking on her elderly mother-in-law called police after she learned someone had opened a credit card in her mother-in-law's name without her mother-in-law's knowledge. The elderly woman's caregiver said that Added Touch, a store in the Southern Park Mall, had called in reference to a $1,379 charge made on a Chase bank card, an account the woman said her mother-in-law does not have. The woman said she suspects a recently fired caregiver may be involved in the apparent identity theft.
Suspect pleads innocent
YOUNGSTOWN -- A man charged in the robberies of three Canfield Road pizza shops pleaded innocent Thursday in municipal court. John A. Jenkins, 19, of Nesho Road was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery in the armed robberies of Pizza Joe's, Cornersburg Pizza and East of Chicago Pizza on June 18, 19 and 22. His bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety for each count. A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. July 18.
Special board meeting
BOARDMAN -- The school board will meet in special session at 5 p.m. today in the superintendent's office at Boardman Center Middle School, 7410 Market St., to consider a resolution declaring the necessity of submitting the question of the issuance of school improvement bonds to voters.
