Man charged in home break-in, assault
CAMPBELL -- Police arrested a city man after a woman was assaulted at her home.
Curtis A. Wright, 27, of 6th Street was charged with assault, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, aggravated burglary and contribution to the unruliness/delinquency of a child, police said.
Wright was taken to the Campbell Police Department, where he is being held without bond, police said. He will appear in Campbell Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Friday.
Police said that Wright broke into a 6th Street house around 3 a.m. Wednesday, assaulted the victim and demanded money, police said. A juvenile alerted Wright to the presence of the police, and Wright attempted to flee the scene, police said.
Wright was arrested after falling in bushes on 6th Street, police said. They also said that the juvenile did not enter the house, but yelled when the police arrived.
No charges have been filed against the juvenile, who was released to his mother.
