Catholic Charities offers immigration aid
The nonprofit organization offers help for those who want legal status.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Charities Corp. announces the opening of the Catholic Charities Legal Immigration Services office in Ravenna with satellite locations in Canton and Ashtabula.
Catholic Charities Legal Immigration Services provides family- and humanitarian-based immigration assistance to individuals who wish to obtain legal status in the United States, either for themselves or for their relatives.
The program has been recognized as a nonprofit organization to provide legal immigration services by the U.S. Department of Justice, Board of Immigration Appeals, which is the highest administrative body for interpreting and applying immigration laws.
Program attorneys provide clients with assistance in a variety of matters including immigrant visas, adjustment of status to permanent resident, consular processing, asylum, temporary protective status, naturalization, derivative citizenship and removal defense in immigration court. Catholic Charities Legal Immigration Services also employs intake specialists fluent in Spanish to provide assistance and interpretation. At this time, the program is not able to accept cases involving criminal convictions.
