TRI-T PONY (13-14s)
Vienna Mustangs 4, Hubbard Stevens 2 -- Colin Bowser, Rich Sommers and Jordan Ludwick had the only hits for the Mustangs. Rick Sommers pitched the win, allowing five hits. Dave Pellola had two hits for Hubbard.
Hubbard Stevens 8, McDonald 3 -- Mike Stack had a home run and Cole Crawford and Dave Pettola each had two hits for Hubbard. Alex Kovach had two hits for McDonald.
Austintown The Paper Center 3, Boardman Primo Marble & amp; Granite 2 -- Danny Costello pitched a complete-game four-hitter while Alex Prassinos, Mike Currao and Danny Costello scored for Austintown. Tyler Blangero doubled twice for Boardman.
Austintown The Paper Center 2, Poland Rotary 1 -- Eddie Kubic had two hits and scored two runs while Kevin Marstellar, Ryan Nicholson and Anthony Savko all had a hit for Austintown. Mark Warchol pitched a five-hitter for Poland.
Austintown Armstrong Cable 5, Austintown Home Depot 3 -- Brandon Costanza had a bases-loaded double and also struck out 10 batters in four innings. Chad Burbrink had two hits including a double for Home Depot.
TRI-T COLT (15-17s)
South Range DeChellis Dental 14, Columbiana 9 -- Jack Dawson's four hits included a triple and double. Dawson, Codey Deal, Steve Bensinger, Darren Schlurter and Jeff Pilcher each scored twice. For Columbiana, Chris Stewart and Logan Goist scored twice. Tyler Souder tripled and scored.
SOFTBALL
Valley Sting (18-under)
The Sting finished third at last weekend's NSA state tournament in Cincinnati. Kasey Karr (Champion) pitched a 2-0 shutout over the Central Ohio Lady Rebels to start the tournament. Trisha Dreslinski tripled, Kari Thompson (Poland) singled, Karr doubled and Chelsea Butler (Lakeview) singled to score the two runs. In the next game, Markie Pozzuto (Maplewood) threw a two-hit shutout and Amber Jarvis (Mathews) had an RBI single in a 1-0 victory. The Sting defeated the Lady Lasers Gold Team 2-1 when Pozzuto threw a two-hitter. Dreslinski and Karr scored while Butler and Tanya Davis had RBIs. Karr pitched a four-hitter in the next game but the Sting lost an international tiebreaker game 1-0. Karr pitched Sting to a 3-2 international tiebreaker win over Lady Lasers Gold in the loser's bracket. Pozzuto drove in Butler with the winning run. Sting won 2-0 over the Miami Valley Express behind a no-hitter by Pozzuto. Thompson and Karr scored while Davis and Dar Bott had RBIs. Sting was knocked out in the loser's bracket final by Lady Lasers Black, 1-0. Sting is 30-9 heading into this weekend's ASA state tournament in Ashland.
