Aerosmith shares stagewith the Boston Pops
BOSTON -- Stubborn clouds and early showers didn't deter thousands of Fourth of July revelers from turning out for fireworks, the Boston Pops and Aerosmith.
"What could be more iconically American than rock 'n' roll?" said Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart, hours before he shared the stage with Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry. "Arguably, Boston's two most famous bands are the Pops and Aerosmith."
Tyler pranced onstage in a black-and-leopard-print open shirt with tight white pants and an American flag bandana flowing from his microphone. Tyler danced with Lockhart during the band's "Walk This Way," singing the line "give me a kiss" and then deadpanning to Lockhart: "not you."
State police estimated 450,000 to 500,000 people gathered for the concert and 23-minute pyro-musical fireworks extravaganza near the Charles River.
Minogue talks abouther bout with cancer
SAN FRANCISCO -- In her first TV interview since her recovery, Kylie Minogue fought back tears as she described the moment she discovered she had breast cancer.
Minogue said she was determined to continue with her grueling "Showgirl" tour despite the news last year, but her family insisted that she not.
"The moment my doctors told me, I went silent," she said. "We all fell to pieces, but I was saying, 'No, I'm getting a plane,' and they said, 'No, you're not, sit down."'
The San Francisco Chronicle's Web site reported on the star's interview with British TV host Cat Deeley for a show to be aired on Sky One on July 16.
Minogue also says she is already busy working on a new album, but is determined not to put her body under undue stress for the sake of work.
"We're taking one baby step at a time. It's early days and I'm not sure what shape things are going to take," she said.
Record produceris freed after pardon
ATLANTA -- R & amp;B producer Dallas Austin has been released from a jail in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after being pardoned on drug charges.
"He is on the plane and safely out of the country," Austin's lawyer, Joel A. Katz, said in an e-mail to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum pardoned Austin on Tuesday, hours after the Grammy-winning producer was sentenced to four years in prison for possession of cocaine.
A court sentenced Austin, who has created tunes for Madonna and Janet Jackson, for possessing 1.26 grams of cocaine, his defense team said. The court had also ruled that Austin should be deported after serving his prison term.
Austin told the court on Sunday that he made an unintentional mistake and did not mean to break the law in the United Arab Emirates.
Since his arrest Austin had been held without bail at Dubai's al-Rashidiya Police Station.
Austin has several hits to his credit, including Pink's "Just Like a Pill" and TLC's "Unpretty." He won a Grammy Award for best R & amp;B album in 1999 for producing TLC's multiplatinum "Fanmail."
