One man dead after Salineville house fire

SALINEVILLE -- A fire that destroyed a house in the 18000 block of Siegler Road claimed one life.
The man who died in the fire has not yet been identified, said the Ohio Fire Marshal's office. The fire marshal's office is waiting on a positive identification from the Columbiana County coroner's office. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It began at 12:15 a.m. Monday.
People in the area reported hearing an explosion around the time of the fire, but the fire began first, said Shane Cartmill, spokesman for the fire marshal's office.
He said the explosion people reported hearing may have been a propane tank or a gas grill that blew up in the fire.
Cartmill said the two-story farmhouse is likely a complete loss. There were no other injuries.
