MLB ROUNDUP \ Monday's other games

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Devil Rays 3, Red Sox 0
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- All-Star Scott Kazmir pitched a two-hitter for his first career complete game. Kazmir (10-5) limited the Red Sox to a third-inning single by Alex Gonzalez until Manny Ramirez led off the ninth with a double to deep center field to give Boston only its third baserunner over the last six innings. The 22-year-old left-hander, who's 3-1 in four starts against Boston this season, walked two and struck out 10, including Jason Varitek four times and Ramirez once to escape a bases loaded jam in the third. Kazmir improved to 5-2 in 11 career starts against the Red Sox, who entered the game having won 14 of 15. He threw 120 pitches. Ty Wigginton homered twice and Russell Branyan added a third solo homer off Josh Beckett (10-4), who allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings in his bid to become the AL's first 11-game winner.
Orioles 8, White Sox 1
CHICAGO -- Erik Bedard allowed two hits in eight strong innings and Baltimore made the most of three Chicago errors during a four-run sixth inning. Miguel Tejada and Corey Patterson, in his return to Chicago after being traded from the Cubs in the offseason, homered in the seventh off reliever Brandon McCarthy to complete Baltimore's decisive victory. The only run allowed by Bedard was Jermaine Dye's 21st homer in the second that snapped the left-hander's 17-inning scoreless streak. Bedard (9-6), who has won four straight starts, walked one and struck out seven. Freddy Garcia (10-5), who had also won three straight coming into the game, gave up 10 hits in six innings and the Orioles pushed the action on the bases against the right-hander's deliberate delivery. Two of the six runs against him were unearned.
Rangers 6, Blue Jays 1
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rookie John Rheinecker pitched seven innings and Mark DeRosa had three hits and three RBIs to lead Texas. Rheinecker (4-2) gave up one run and five hits, struck out three and walked one for the Rangers. Ted Lilly (8-8) nearly matched Rheinecker, allowing two runs and five hits in six innings. DeRosa, inserted into the starting lineup to give regular third baseman Hank Blalock a night off, led off the sixth with his fourth homer to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead. Texas, which had scored 14 runs in its previous seven games, pushed across a run in the second on Jason Botts' sacrifice fly.
Twins 6, Royals 5
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau homered as Minnesota rallied for its 11th straight victory. The Twins trailed 5-3 going into the eighth inning and scored three runs on one hit, three walks, a hit batter, a throwing error by catcher John Buck and two wild pitches by Ambiorix Burgos.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Brewers 8, Reds 7
MILWAUKEE -- Bill Hall homered and had four hits, Carlos Lee singled home the winning run in the ninth inning and Milwaukee pulled off the final rally of a seesaw game. Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 554th homer and added a two-run double off All-Star closer Derrick Turnbow in the top of the ninth, putting Cincinnati ahead 7-6. But winner Matt Wise (5-4) retired Austin Kearns with the bases loaded to end the inning, and Todd Coffey (3-3) failed to get an out in the bottom half. Rickie Weeks led off with a single and went to third on Hall's single off the right-field fence. Geoff Jenkins blooped a tying single to center and Lee followed with a soft single to right.
Nationals 9, Marlins 1
WASHINGTON -- Alfonso Soriano homered twice and drove in four runs, and Pedro Astacio won his Washington debut. Soriano led off the first inning with a homer and added a two-run shot in the fifth for his third multi-homer game this season. Jose Guillen had a three-run drive in the fifth, and Jose Vidro added three hits to help the Nationals win their third in a row. Astacio (1-0), who missed the first three months of the season with a right forearm strain, was strong in his first start, using a fastball that topped out at 89 mph and a sharp curveball. He allowed three hits in five innings, giving up his only run on Reggie Abercrombie's homer in the fifth.
Braves 6, Cardinals 3
ATLANTA -- John Smoltz won for the first time in eight starts, and Atlanta hit four home runs. Coming off the worst month in franchise history, the Braves have won two straight for the first time since May 27-28, a span of 33 games. A steady drizzle began falling before the Braves batted in the third, and Marcus Giles and Edgar Renteria hit back-to-back homers before play was suspended.
Astros 7, Cubs 2
HOUSTON -- Roger Clemens finally got some run support and won for the first time in his latest comeback. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner allowed two runs and four hits and struck out five in five innings. The 43-year-old earned his 342nd career victory. Lance Berkman homered twice and Preston Wilson had an RBI double as the Astros scored more than three runs for just the 13th time in Clemens' 35 starts since the beginning of last season.
Giants 9, Rockies 6
DENVER -- Randy Winn drove in the go-ahead run with a broken-bat double, and the Giants rallied for three runs in the eighth inning to give manager Felipe Alou his 1,000th win. Alou is sixth among San Francisco managers with 309 wins. Jeremy Accardo (1-2) earned the win by retiring just one batter in the seventh. He gave up three hits and two runs in the inning.
