YOUNGSTOWN -- Kara Lynn Humes, a daughter of Michael and Peggy Humes of Boardman, and Michael William Bethany, a son of Bruce and Carol Bethany of North Olmsted, were united in marriage during a 2 p.m. ceremony that took place May 27 at St. Patrick Church.
The Rev. Edward Noga officiated at the wedding, and the couple were honored during a reception at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman.
After a wedding trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, the Bethanys live in Brookpark.
The bride's strapless gown of ruched silk dupioni was designed with a sweetheart neckline. She held a bouquet of cymbidium orchids.
Wearing black gowns were the bride's sister and honor attendant, Rebecca Humes of Boardman, and the bridesmaids, Julie Humes of Columbus, her sister; Courtney Schuller of Youngstown; and Melanie Berg of Stow, N.Y.
Thomas Bethany of North Olmsted performed the duties of best man for his brother, and groomsmen were Jason Barry of Medina and Kevin Barry of Cleveland, the groom's cousins, and Christopher Buehner, also of Cleveland.
The bride graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in exercise science and respiratory therapy.
The groom, a project engineer with Combustion Services in Brookpark, graduated from YSU with a degree in mechanical engineering.
