POLAND -- The Hawaiian island of Maui was the honeymoon destination of David Maurer and his bride, the former Christen Basic, who were married at 1:30 p.m. May 27 at Holy Family Church.
The bride's cousin, the Rev. Stephen Popovich, and her great uncle, the Rev. George Popovich, officiated, and a reception was held at Stambaugh Auditorium, Youngstown. The couple live at 762 Island Drive.
Stephen and Patricia Basic, 1452 Rose Hedge Court, are parents of the bride, and the groom is a son of Irv and Dianne Maurer, 28 Pine St., Glenrock, Pa., and Patricia Maurer, 3940 S. Main St., Hubbard.
The bride's ivory mermaid-style gown was adorned with crystals and silver beading.
Apple gowns were worn by the honor attendants, Kimberly Bonafede and Jamie Malish, and the bridesmaids, Katie Ensley, Julie Basic, Brandy Maurer and Jill Slater. Junior bridesmaid was Payton Maurer, and flower girl was Laiken Maurer.
Best men were Gregory Maurer and John Jordan, and groomsmen were Mat Prezioso, George Summers, John Cooper and Dr. Stephen Basic. Ring bearer was Carson Maurer.
The bride, an occupational therapist with Easter Seals of Youngstown, graduated from Gannon University with a bachelor's degree in health science and a master's in occupational therapy. The groom, a manager at Wheatland Tube Co., graduated from Pennsylvania State University Shenango Campus with a bachelor's in business administration.
