"A Capitol Fourth" (8 p.m., PBS): Jason Alexander is the host for this year's "A Capitol Fourth" -- an evening of patriotic music followed by a spectacular display of fireworks over the Washington Monument. Aired live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, this 26th annual Independence Day concert will feature artists including Stevie Wonder, Michael Bolton, Vanessa Williams, Elmo from "Sesame Street," teen sensation JoJo and country recording star Jo Dee Messina performing with the National Symphony Orchestra. Capping off the show: Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" complete with the traditional live cannon fire.
"Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular" (9 p.m., NBC): Watching fireworks on TV just doesn't match the in-person experience, but at least you can turn the volume down if you so desire. For the "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular," Mariah Carey and Donald Trump join host Al Roker to celebrate the nation's birthday in New York City.
