Three hospitalized after morning crash

BOARDMAN -- Three people were still in St. Elizabeth Medical Center being treated for injuries late Sunday night after a two-car accident at McClurg Road and South Avenue earlier in the day.
Mary Chiovitti, 49, of Columbiana and two passengers in her car, James Meloi, 58, of Hartville; and Michael Chiovitti, 14, of Columbiana were all still being treated. Mary Chiovitti and James Meloi were admitted, but their conditions were not available.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Mary Chiovitti's vehicle was southbound on South Avenue when it was struck by a vehicle driven by Thomas Key, 17, of Boardman, whose vehicle was eastbound on McClurg Road. Key was later cited for failure to yield for a stop sign.
Chiovitti's vehicle overturned in the accident, which occurred at 11:30 a.m. It came to rest upright.
