Rainers honored at party marking their anniversary
XCANFIELD -- The clubhouse at Tippecanoe Woods was the setting July 1 for a party held in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rainer, 2160 Redwood Place, who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Invitations for the festivity were issued by the couple's children and their spouses, Karen Hubert of Canfield; Jeffrey and Valerie Rainer of Rootstown; Paul and Susan Rainer of Naperville, Ill.; Robert and Sharon Rainer of Moorestown, N.J.; and Joseph and Kelly Rainer of Riverton, N.J. There are 10 grandchildren in the family.
The former Rosemarie Jordan and Mr. Rainer were united in marriage June 23, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown. They are members of St. Christine Church.
Prior to retiring in 2001, Mrs. Rainer, a homemaker, was a secretary for Dr. William Begalla in Boardman.
Mr. Rainer served with the U.S. Navy Air Force from 1954 to 1956 and earned a bachelor's degree at Youngstown State University. In 1986 he retired from the Youngstown Police Department as a detective after 25 years of service. Afterward he was director of security at Dollar Savings and Trust in Youngstown until retiring in 1997. He is a member of the F.O.P. Retirees.
