Mass, dinner held to mark Strauss 50th anniversary

XBOARDMAN -- Holy Trinity Church in Struthers was the setting June 9 as Mr. and Mrs. Edward Strauss, 441 Melbourne Ave., were honored at a Mass and a dinner on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Serving as hosts for the festivities were members of their family, Kathleen and Daniel Dowler and Michele and Scott Shaffer, all of Columbus, Susan and Elio Andreatta of Boardman, and Eric Strauss of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Also participating were the couple's five grandchildren.
The former Mary Ann Sabol and Mr. Strauss were united in marriage June 9, 1956, at Holy Trinity Church, where they are members.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Strauss was employed at Youngstown Credit Bureau and at Zabel's Gourmet, both in Youngstown. She is a member of the parish council and helps with the church pirogi sales.
Mr. Strauss served with the U.S. Army. He was a teacher and coach for Boardman School District, retiring in 1986, and he also retired in June from Youngstown State University, where he was a video coordinator. He is a member of numerous clubs and organizations.
