Coy anniversary to be observed during reception



XCANFIELD -- An open house reception will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. July 9 at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, to celebrate the 70th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Coy of Canfield.
The former Alma Davis and Mr. Coy were married July 11, 1936, at the Davis homestead on Canfield-Columbiana Road.
They lived in a Coy farmhouse on state Route 46 and later built a home at Marcus Corners, where Mr. Coy established Coy Bros. Trucking and where they operated a gas station and fruit farm. In 1963 they moved to Fairground Boulevard.
Their family includes Arlan and Patricia Coy and Wesley and Cheryl Coy, all of Salem; Emerson and Julie Coy of Lac du Flambeau, Wis.; and Walter and Joyce Coy of Canfield. There are 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild in the family.
The couple are active members of the church. Mrs. Coy served as a judge at voting polls for many years, and the couple formerly taught young people ballroom dancing.
