Chaney fundraising
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Chaney High athletic department will hold a meeting Wednesday at the school cafeteria starting at 6 p.m. to discuss the upcoming brick fundraising campaign for the new gymnasium.
Athletic director Jim Mullally is asking all parents, coaches, teachers, friends and alumni to attend the meeting to help map plans for the brick fundraising campaign.
Chaney's new gym is under construction and is expected to be ready for next season.

Slippery Rock cutting eight varsity sports
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University is cutting eight varsity sports in an effort to save about $350,000 a year, school officials said Monday.
Men's golf, swimming, water polo, tennis and wrestling are being cut, as are women's field hockey, swimming and water polo.
The cuts take effect when the 2005-06 academic year ends this spring.
The cuts impact 122 athletes.
Slovak bowling
MASURY -- Joe Harkulich of Masury was elected to his 11th term as executive secretary of the Slovak Bowling Congress of America.
The 64th annual Slovak National will start April 8 at Sunset Lanes in Farrell.
It will continue on weekends through May 7, with the exception of Easter.
The entry fee is $17 per event, plus $3 optional all events.

Thiel honors
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College junior Mike Kemble (Southeast) was named Presidents' Athletic Conference wrestler of the week for the second time this season.
Kemble was 3-0 last week and improved his overall record to 17-2.
Also, freshman forward Amber Bodrick (Cardinal Mooney) was named PAC women's basketball player of the week for the second consecutive time.
She scored a school-record 51 points in an overtime win over Bethany.
Bodrick leads the PAC in rebounding (9.2) and is second in scoring (19.3).
Poland swimming
POLAND -- Poland High boys swimmer Bobby Hurtuk set the school record in the 100-yard freestyle in a meet against Boardman recently.
Hurtuk won the event in a time of 51.98 seconds.
Canfield hockey
BOARDMAN -- Canfield High's hockey team lost to Kenston 4-1 Sunday at The Ice Zone.
Canfield's goal was scored by Zack Kovacs on an assist by George West.
Canfield seniors West and Mark Maxwell were honored before the game.
Correction
Jackson-Milton High senior Mike Wiseman (31-2) finished second in the 152-pound class at the Josh Hephner Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Fitch. Ranked No. 3 in the state in Division III by the Brakeman Report, he was inadvertently omitted from Sunday's story.

*ORLANDO, Fla. -- Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry was arrested on gun charges in a weekend street altercation, authorities said.
Henry pulled a 9 mm pistol on a group of revelers early Saturday, according to a police report.
An officer directing traffic aimed his gun at the 22-year-old Henry and ordered him to drop the pistol, the report states.
Henry froze, then moved toward a limo in the street and threw the gun inside the car, the report says. The officer pulled Henry away from the limo and pushed him to the ground, according to the report.
Police said Henry, who still faces a drug charge from an arrest last month in Kentucky, appeared to be preparing to fight with another group on the sidewalk.
