Thompson's 23 not enough for Rockets

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Brandon Thompson scored 23 points for Slippery Rock, which fell to Shippensburg 75-59 on Sunday.
Jamar Scales and Dejan Jancic each had eight points for The Rock (1-19, 0-5). Chuck Davis scored 23 points to lead four players in double figures for Shippensburg (15-4, 4-0).
Geneva 92, Daemen 77
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva's Nate Conley became the 31st player in school history to score a career 1,000th points in Saturday's game.
The Golden Tornadoes improved to 11-10 and 4-4, while Daemen fell to 16-7 and 6-1. Kyle McDermott paced the winners with 28 points.
Women
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Amber McFeely scored 13 points and added five assists to lead Slippery Rock past Shippensburg 69-52 in a PSAC-West game on Sunday.
Angela Greaser added 13 points and Kelly Ann Staudinger added 12 off the bench for the Rock (11-9, 3-2), who shot 64 percent from the field for the game.
Swimming
BEREA -- Poland High graduate Cassandra Tunic was a member of the winning sprint medley relay at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship relay meet at Marietta College.
Turic, a freshman, helped lead the team to a time of 4:25.39.
