FORTY YEARS AGO: The new president of the Mahoning Valley McKinley Club, Atty. Clyde Osborne, Mahoning County prosecutor, was congratulated at the 1966 McKinley Day banquet in the Niles McKinley Memorial. With Osborne were, from left, John Herbert, Ohio state treasurer; Judge George Buchwalter of the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, and Elmer Jones secretary of the McKinley Club. The speaker at the 1966 dinner was U.S. Rep. John Anderson, R-Ill., who ran for president as an independent in 1980 in a three-way race with incumbent Jimmy Carter and challenger Ronald Reagan.
