Man sentenced for firing gun at party
MERCER, Pa. -- A Sandy Lake man is going to prison for firing a gun over the heads of partygoers at a Stoneboro park last summer.
Judge Francis Fornelli of Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced Dustin Mazon, 23, to 15 months to two years in prison for terroristic threats and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, both misdemeanors.
Court documents say Mazon was asked to leave a beach party at Lakeside Park on Franklin Street after arguing with another man.
He returned with a 20-gauge shotgun and fired it over the heads of about 100 people in attendance.
Police were called and Mazon fled in a vehicle from an officer who tried to stop him. Mazon was later apprehended.
In another court sentencing, Nathaniel Jones, 22, of Beaver Falls will spend three months to two years in prison and was ordered to make restitution for unauthorized use of automobiles and other vehicles, a misdemeanor.
On Jan. 23, 2005, he pretended he was interested in buying a 2001 Pontiac Grant Am, court documents state. He told the owner he wanted to show the car to his fianc & eacute;e, but never returned with the car. Police arrested him later the same day on Sharon-Mercer Road, midway between Mercer and Sharon.
