KINDERGARTEN \ Registrations



In most cases, children must be 5 by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody also may be required.
Struthers: Registration packets will be available for pick up at the Board of Education Office, 99 Euclid Ave., Feb. 6-10. Completed forms should be returned to that office as soon as possible. Registration won't be accepted at the elementary school. In addition to the requirements listed above, three proofs of residency are required and the person registering a child must have proof of identification as well.
Poland: Holy Family School's registration is open at the school at 2731 Center Road. In addition to the requirements listed above, parents must bring the child's Baptismal certificate, complete all registration forms in the packet to be picked up at the time of registration and bring a registration fee of $25 payable to Holy Family School. Kindergarten screenings will be scheduled at the time of registration.
Girard: Registration for new pupils in grades kindergarten to first grade for St. Rose School, 61 E. Main St., will begin Monday. Children must be 5 before Sept. 30 to enter kindergarten and 6 before Sept. 30 to enter first grade. In addition to the requirements listed above, parents must present the child's baptismal certificate, copies of the first Eucharist and first Eucharist certificate, pastor's verification of parish membership, previous school records and signed statements of financial responsibility and parental support. A $50 nonrefundable registration fee must be paid. Registrants for the kindergarten program must participate in and satisfactorily complete the screening program scheduled for February.
Canfield: Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten will have an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 5 at the school, 4300 Shields Road. Fall registration for 3-year-old preschool, 4-year-old preschool, kindergarten prep and kindergarten will be open to all families during the open house. Parents need only to fill out a registration form and bring a $35 nonrefundable fee during the open house.
Howland Community Church Cooperative Preschool: Registration is open for the school's classes for 3- and 4-year-olds and its pre-kindergarten class. The school is at 198 Niles-Cortland Road S.E., Warren. Classes for 3- and 4-year-old children are held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and children must be at least 3 years old by Sept. 30 and potty-trained to enroll. The pre-kindergarten class is available for children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 30; it runs Monday through Thursday from 12:45 to 3 p.m. For more information and a tour of the school, call (330) 856-7218.
Champion: Champion Central Elementary School is registering children from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday until Feb. 16. Registration packets are available at the principal's office at 5759 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Parents with children already attending the school can contact the office to have a packet sent home with their child. All completed packets must be returned to the office before Feb. 16. There will also be an evening registration from 4:30-6 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Feb. 16. All pupils will be given screening appointments for May 4 or 5. In addition to the requirements listed above, children must be 5 years old before Aug. 1.
