Elway sends Beaver Falls boy a chair

The boy, wearing an Elway shirt, was ordered to sit on the floor during a test.
BOARDMAN -- A U.S. Route 224 furniture store sent a $3,000 chair to a 17-year-old Pennsylvania boy who was harassed at school for wearing a Denver Broncos jersey.
John Elway, an NFL Hall of Famer and retired Broncos quarterback, has a line of furniture, the Elway Home Collection, through Bassett Furniture.
News reports this week told of a 17-year-old student at Beaver Falls Area Senior High in Beaver, Pa., who last week wore a Broncos jersey to school. The boy, identified by the Associated Press as Joshua Vannoy, wore No. 7, which was Elway's jersey.
The reports said the boy's teacher ordered him to sit on the floor during a test and encouraged other students to throw paper at him because of the shirt.
The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated Denver last week in the American Football Conference Championship game, winning a trip to the Super Bowl next week in Detroit.
Brad Schumer, one of the owners of Poland Furniture and Accessories, said that the store is the closest one to the boy's home that sells Bassett and the company asked them to send a chair.
The red leather recliner, which retails for about $3,000, was delivered Friday.
"It's a special edition chair," Schumer said.
According to a Bassett Web site, the Elway Home Collection focuses on home entertainment centers and features a collection of reclining sofas, sectionals and chairs.
