Boardman gets Federal win 52-41



The Spartans knocked off North Canton Hoover with a second half rally.
BOARDMAN -- Boardman High broke away from a close game, outscoring North Canton Hoover 15-6 in the third quarter, and went on to defeat the Vikings, 52-41, in a Federal League boys basketball game Friday night.
Erik Johnson sparked the Spartans (7-7, 2-4 FL) with 17 points.
Joe Moriarity led Hoover (8-6, 2-4) with 10 points.
Massillon Perry 67, Fitch 38
MASSILLON -- James Wallace scored 19 points to spark the Falcons (2-11, 0-5 FL), but it was far to short in the setback to Perry.
Perry (10-3, 5-1) jumped out to a 12-2 lead and held a 34-12 margin at intermission.
Rayen 64, Beaver Local 44
YOUNGSTOWN -- Gary Thornton scored 10 points, and Dustin Bennett had nine points and seven rebounds, to lead Rayen (3-11, 1-2 Steel Valley Conference).
Bennett also blocked two shots for the Tigers, who outscored Beaver Local 25-11 in the second quarter to take a 39-20 lead at the intermission. Matt Gordon also had seven rebounds.
Ethan Russel paced the Beavers (0-14, 0-4) with 11 points and three assists, while Tony Hayward had nine points and three rebounds. Zack Zelinsky had eight rebounds.
Struthers 36, Poland 35
STRUTHERS -- Jim Sodeman hit a 3-point goal with two seconds remaining to lead Struthers past Poland.
Sodeman led the Wildcats (7-6, 2-4 MAC) with 12 points, while Matt Kukura added 10. Chris Lovell and Louis Coppola each had eight points for Poland (4-9, 0-6).
The Bulldogs held a 26-20 lead after three quarters before getting outscored 16-9 in the final quarter.
Lutheran East 62, Youngstown Christian 44
CLEVELAND -- State-ranked Lutheran East rallied in the second and third periods and pulled away from Youngstown Christian.
Lutheran East (12-2) was led by Darryl Burks and John Liggins with 13 points each.
Youngstown Christian (5-8) was paced by Dave Colvert with 13 points.
Northwest 57, West Branch 44
CANAL FULTON -- Brandon McMillen scord 18 points and pulled down five rebounds for the Warriors.
Kyle Rockwell scored 14 points while Shane Young had 11 rebounds.
