Judge revokes probation after threat on officer



A 19-year-old man was sentenced for possessing crack cocaine.
MERCER, Pa. -- A threat against a police officer has caused a Sharon man's probation to be revoked.
And two other Mercer County men are being sent to prison, one for burglarizing a West Salem Township home and the other for possessing 21 rocks of crack cocaine.
Guy Schell Sr., 40, of Syme Street, pleaded guilty in December to making terroristic threats, a misdemeanor, for threatening to shoot a Sharon police officer July 27 at the Sharon police station.
The threat violated terms of probation for his convictions last spring for misdemeanor counts of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Judge Christopher St. John revoked Schell's probation Monday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court and resentenced him to 165 days to two years in jail for the earlier offenses, followed by three years' probation for the new conviction.
On Tuesday, Samuel Bartberger, 25, address given as Mercer County Jail, was sentenced by Judge John Reed to two to four years for robbery and burglary, both felonies.
According to court documents, Bartberger entered a River Road residence Nov. 3, 2004, and pointed a gun in the back of the resident's head and repeatedly demanded money before taking his wallet and two handguns.
Terrance Wells, 19, of Beechwood Avenue, Farrell, was sentenced by Judge Francis Fornelli to 16 months to seven years for possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, a felony. Court documents state Wells was apprehended at a Cedar Street, Sharon, address with the individually packaged rocks of cocaine as well as two Clonazepam pills and a small amount of marijuana.

Others sentenced Tuesday by Judge Fornelli were:
Leon Baldwin, 20, Beechwood Avenue, Farrell; six to 24 months in prison plus restitution, for theft by unlawful taking, a felony. On May 15, 2005, court documents state he took a Polaris all-terrain vehicle worth $3,000 from a Lunn Boulevard, Farrell address.
Joshua Smoot, 24, of Walnut Avenue, Farrell; three months to two years in prison plus restitution for receiving stolen property, a felony, and for the May 15 theft of the all-terrain vehicle from the Lunn Boulevard address.
James Eicher, 29, of McConnell Road, New Wilmington; two years' probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor, for taking a shotgun and case worth $440 from a Nych Road, Lackawannock Township, residence June 18, 2005, court documents state.
James Thomas, 23, Church Street, Hadley; one year's probation for theft by deception. According to court documents, on Aug. 5, 2001, he and an accomplice obtained a bank check card and pin number. With it they bought $28 worth of gasoline and cigarettes and got $200 from an automated teller machine.
Calvin Young Jr., 21, Wallace Avenue, Sharon; one to two years plus restitution for felony criminal trespass. On July 22, 2005, according to court documents, he broke into an occupied building on Spearman Avenue, Sharon.
Neil Alabran, 24, of Coal Hill Road, Greenville; two to six months in jail and three years' probation for indecent assault, a misdemeanor. The assault, court documents state, involved a 4-year-old girl and occurred in August 2003.
Trenten Brown, 28, of Shenango Street, Greenville; three to 12 months and one year's probation, plus $100 fine for simple assault, a misdemeanor, and public drunkenness, a summary offense. On May 29, 2005, court documents state Brown punched another man in the face, grabbed him by the head and used his knee to slam his face several times at an East State Street residence. Brown was drunk at the time.
Lawrence Buccino, 41, Cedar Avenue, Sharon; three to six months in jail and one year's probation for resisting arrest or other law enforcement, a misdemeanor. On Aug. 15, 2005, he punched a Sharon police officer in the mouth and tried to hit several others while they were trying to arrest him.
Leonard Gill, 21, Kinsman Road, Jamestown; 90 days to six months in jail and 18 months' probation for simple assault, a misdemeanor. Court documents state that on July 9, 2005, he struck another man with a baseball bat, fracturing his finger, causing cuts requiring stitches and possibly causing a concussion at a Kinsman Road, Greene Township address.
Patricia Hunt, 38, Radcliffe Road, Youngstown; two years' probation plus restitution for misdemeanor retail theft. On May 6, 2004, court documents state, she stole $80 worth of items including baby food, and hair products from Shop N Save, 2199 E. State St., Hermitage.
Joshua Rhoades, 18, Rexford Drive, Hermitage; two years' probation plus restitution for identity theft, a misdemeanor. He conspired with another man to use a credit card without the owner's permission to buy two guitars for $636 from Valley Piano & amp; Organ, 2550 E. State St., Hermitage.
Melanie Zoccole, 43, Spring Street, Jamestown; three years' probation plus restitution for theft by unlawful taking and retail theft, both misdemeanors. Court documents state that on March 20, 2005, she took $18 worth of gasoline without paying at McQuaid's, 1726 Valley View Road, Hermitage. Then on Dec. 13, 2004, she took $47 worth of boxer briefs from WalMart, 3300 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage.
Others sentenced Monday were:
Lennie Harvey Jr., 24, of East Shenango Street, Sharpsville; two years' probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. Harvey stole a purse with $300 inside from Howie's Pub, 1337 Franklin Road, Jackson Township, on July 21, court documents state. He was ordered to make restitution.
Suzanne Stewart, 33, of South Oakland Avenue, Sharon; three years' probation for felony retail theft. Court documents state that on April 19, 2005, she stole a $45 chair from Wal-Mart, 3300 Shenango Valley Freeway. The offense is a felony because it is her third or subsequent.
