Federal funds aid in cost of facility

LISBON -- Columbiana County will get $250,000 in federal funds to help pay for a proposed new county building.
The county commissioners said Wednesday that U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland of Lisbon, D-6th, had obtained the money for land acquisition, repairs to a road, water and sewer extensions, land preparation and parking lot replacement.
The commissioners are considering building a new facility for the county Jobs & amp; Family Services Department. It would be located near the county Mental Health Center on state Route 154 south of Lisbon.
The department is located in a cramped and aging building in Lisbon.
The approximately 43,000-square-foot building also may house other county offices that are currently renting space in other buildings.
