Columbiana wins 11th straight



The Clippers rolled past Southern 73-16 to keep pace with Crestview.
COLUMBIANA -- Columbiana sophomore Katie Douglas had 21 points as the Clippers tuned up for Monday's Tri-County League showdown with Crestview by defeating Southern 73-16 in a girls basketball game on Thursday.
The win was the 11th straight for Columbiana (13-2, 8-1). The Clippers' lone loss in the league came earlier in the season to the Rebels, 64-45. The teams are tied for the TCL lead.
Douglas and senior Colleen Eisenbraun both had eight rebounds, while Krista Johnson, a junior, had eight assists.
Also for the Clippers, Kristina Davidson added 11 points, while Johnson had 10.
Sierra Grimm's seven points paced Southern (3-10, 0-8).
Lisbon 51, United 38
LISBON -- Caitlin Glenn had 17 points, four assists and four steals for Lisbon, which outscored United 23-2 in the fourth quarter.
Emma DeFilippo added eight points and 11 rebounds for the Blue Devils (11-3, 6-3), while Erica Sims had 12 points, 10 rebounds and four steals.
Brittany Hofmeister, Danielle Ramus and Lindsay Firth each scored 10 points for the Eagles.
Lakeview 63, Newton Falls 54
CORTLAND -- Chelsea Butler scored 21 points to lead Lakeview (11-3, 8-1), which remained in first in the Trumbull Athletic Conference standings.
Lindsay Whetzel added eight points, 13 rebounds and four assists for Lakeview, which took a 29-22 halftime lead. Jen Baker added 14 points and Alynn Martin had 10 rebounds.
Emily Montgomery scored 14 points to lead Newton Falls (3-11, 1-8).
Girard 51, Liberty 45
LIBERTY -- The Indians, leading by a point after three quarters, pulled away with a 10-5 spurt in the final period.
Adrienne Steverson sparked the Indians with 20 points. Jenna Ruiz chipped in with 13.
Michelle Dykes took scoring honors for the Leopards (10-5, 6-3) with 25 points.
Brookfield 63, LaBrae 42
BROOKFIELD -- Morgan Bonekovic had game-highs in points (18), rebounds (15) and blocks (10) to lead Brookfield.
Kelly Jones added 14 points, four assists and four steals for the Warriors (12-3, 7-2), while Andrea Gladis had 12 points.
Jalisa Elkins led LaBrae (6-8, 2-7) with 14 points.
