CLEVELAND -- SounDoctrine, a Youngstown-based alternative funk/jazz band, will perform live Friday on television station WJW-Fox 8 throughout the morning.
They will be guests on the "Fox 8 in the Morning" show, which begins at 7:30 a.m.
The group will play songs from their next album, "Endurance," and promote their participation in the upcoming Celebrity Soul Food Cook Off on Feb. 18 at the Galleria, 1301 E. Ninth St. It will be the second time SounDoctrine has appeared on "Fox 8 in the Morning." "Endurance," the band's fourth album, is scheduled for a March 14 release.
Fans can get a sneak preview of the new CD at the Cook Off, as SounDoctrine has teamed with DNA Alliance to implement mobile Bluetooth technology.
"Anyone coming to the Cook Off with a Bluetooth enabled cell phone, PDA or other such device will be able to download our videos, MP3s and ringtones free, right on the spot," said Jere Beulah, the band's drummer and spokesman. "We are using Bluetooth to market our music and platform immediately to anyone who has a device to receive it," he added. "While we are still in the testing phase, we're giving away the store!"
Some of Cleveland's best chefs will be on hand at the Cook Off to prepare dishes and give demonstrations. The Cook Off benefits the United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, which supports organizations and programs that promote the social-economic health and well-being of blacks.
Tickets are $30 and are available by calling (216) 731-5044 or going to www.ubfogc.org.
