Salem rallies to top Poland



SALEM -- Kelly Roelen scored 12 points for the Salem High girls basketball team, which outscored Poland 15-5 in the third quarter to take control en route to a 34-27 victory in a Metro Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.
Amanda Thorne added six points and six rebounds for the Quakers (11-3, 5-2), who trailed 18-15 at halftime. Zahra Scullion had seven rebounds and six steals, while Laci Meals had five points.
Jessica Toth scored 14 points, while Melissa Haug added nine points and five rebounds for Poland (2-13, 0-7).
Salem made just 12 of 50 from the field (24 percent), while Poland made 8 of 24 (33 percent).
