POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
Jan. 21
Criminal damage: A woman in the 200 block of East Wilson Avenue discovered someone did $200 worth of damage to a fenced-in, inflatable swimming pool in her yard.
Jan. 22
Domestic violence: A charge was filed against a Girard boy, 14, after his mother alleged he punched her in the jaw, and after the teen fled. The woman sought medical attention.
Criminal mischief: An Ella Street woman called police after finding two condoms containing an undetermined substance on her front porch as well as an egg broken on her front window.
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 100 block of Ward Avenue noticed someone used a key to damage a door's finish on her vehicle.
Truck theft: An Austintown man reported the theft of his 1994 Chevrolet Silverado from a residence in the 100 block of Miller Drive. The vehicle was later involved in an accident in Liberty.
Auto theft: A man in the 200 block of East Second Street reported his 1995 Olds Cutlass stolen from his home.
Jan. 23
Menacing: A Crumlin Avenue teenager told police that a man came to his residence and threatened to strangle and kill the victim during a confrontation.
Theft/criminal damage: A woman in the 100 block of Maple Avenue discovered her car's driver's-side door lock damaged and an in-dash stereo/compact-disc player stolen.
Jan. 24
Theft: A Washington, D.C., woman reported that her mother, who lives in the 500 block of North Avenue, may have been tricked out of $70 to $90 when someone visited the mother's home.
LIBERTY
Jan. 18
Truck theft: A Kinsman man reported his 1988 Chevrolet truck stolen from Dellaquadri Lawn Maintenance & amp; Landscaping, 1270 Trumbull Ave.
Assault: A Girard boy, 13, and his father told police another Girard boy, 15, punched the 13-year-old twice in the head at the Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect Ave.
Jan. 19
Theft/criminal damage: A woman in the 1100 block of Mansell Drive found her vehicle's driver's-side door damaged and 40 CDs stolen. The loss came to $640.
Theft: A man in the 4600 block of Logan Way reported someone entered his car and took 114 medications as well as a lockbox.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into the Church of God Prophecy, 1729 Tibbetts-Wick Road, and removed a keyboard, a cassette deck, a DVD player and other electronic equipment. The theft was estimated at $1,550.
Arrest: After responding to a report of an intoxicated person at Fire FOE, 999 Trumbull Ave., police arrested a Girard man, 23, on one count of assault on a police officer. The arresting officer alleged the suspect tried to grab him by the throat and struck the victim in the mouth. The officer had a minor cut on his lip and a scrape on his knee.
Auto theft: Police apprehended a 20-year-old Youngstown man on state Route 193 and charged him with theft (motor vehicle). The man's father said that after an argument, the suspect left in his car.
Jan. 20
Theft: A worker at the Super 8 Motel, 4250 Belmont Ave., discovered a $250, 25-inch TV missing from a room.
Theft: A woman discovered $40 worth of rolled coins were removed from her home in the 1700 block of Lucretia Drive.
Assault: A Scott Street woman reported her son, 12, was choked from behind without warning. The boy had redness on his neck.
Domestic violence: Officers arrested a 16-year-old girl at her Church Hill-Hubbard Road residence on a domestic-violence charge. The teen's mother alleged the girl pushed her during an argument. The victim complained of additional pain in a foot she had broken.
Arrest: Police picked up a 40-year-old Austintown man at a McDonald's restaurant, 3630 Belmont Ave., and charged him with theft and fraud. An employee there reported someone borrowed $49 after calling to claim his truck had been disabled. Another woman told officers the man called her with a similar story.
Jan. 21
Theft: Police arrested a 31-year-old Youngstown man on a theft charge after candy was stolen from Dollar General, 3551 Belmont Ave.
Arrest: Officers took into custody a 62-year-old woman at her Pleasant Valley Road residence after learning she was wanted on a felony warrant. A charge of theft from an elderly person was pending.
Jan. 22
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Niles woman reported that a Liberty man, 52, asked to borrow her mother's vehicle and never returned.
Aggravated menacing: A woman in the 4600 block of Logan Way told police a Youngstown man, 19, threatened over the phone to shoot her son.
Jan. 23
Theft: A worker at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., reported a Girard man, 42, took $468.50 worth of groceries after a check he presented was denied.
Arrest: Police arrested a 31-year-old Youngstown man at the Mahoning County jail on a charge of failure to appear for having no operator's license.
Arrests: While intervening during a fight at Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way, police arrested two students, 15 and 16. The older girl was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct; the other teen faced a charge of disorderly conduct. The officer alleged that, as he separated the two, one girl struck him in the forehead.
Theft: An employee at Pizza Hut, 3903 Belmont Ave., told officers a cash register came up short of money on seven occasions. The loss was $194.
Bad check: An employee at Bank One, 3999 Belmont Ave., reported a Youngstown man tried to cash a $400 check determined to have been stolen at a Youngstown branch.
Arrest: After stopping a vehicle in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue for having no headlight, officers took a Youngstown man, 22, into custody. He faced several traffic violations and was wanted on a felony warrant from Lucas County, Ohio, charging him with carrying a concealed weapon.

Jan. 19
Theft: A man and his father in the 200 block of Hager Street reported a bicycle stolen.
Jan. 20
Bad check: A representative for Sherwil Credit Union Inc., 644 Myron St., reported the business received a bad check.
Jan. 21
Drugs: After pulling over a car at a Speedway station, 33 W. Liberty St., officers say they found suspected marijuana in the passenger's possession.
Jan. 22
Arrest: Boardman authorities turned over a Hubbard woman to Hubbard police. She was wanted on a warrant charging her with theft.
Criminal mischief: While patrolling on Old Orchard Lane, police saw that someone had tipped over a portable toilet.
Jan. 23
Criminal damage: An Austintown man discovered someone used a key to damage his vehicle's finish while he was at C's Waffle House, 920 W. Liberty St.
Arrest: After responding to a domestic dispute at a West Liberty Street apartment, officers picked up a Hubbard man after finding out he was wanted on a felony warrant from La Porte, Ind., charging him with theft.
Jan. 24
Theft: A man reported the theft of money from his home in the 300 block of East Park Avenue.
