Area man reports case of identity theft

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Lauderdale Avenue man, who obtained a job via the Vindyjobs.com Web site, has reported a case of identity theft to police.
He told police that his job has been to receive packages at his home and then ship them to addresses in Russia. He said the packages included laptops and cameras.
Since taking the job, the man said he has received letters of collection from several credit card companies for purchases made throughout the United States. The names on the credit card statements are not his but the address is his.
He turned over documents to police Tuesday.
The documents include Western Union receipts for money he received from Russia, police said.
Police notified the Secret Service in Cleveland.
