TRI-COUNTY LEAGUE East Palestine holds off Southern for 49-43 win



The Bulldogs remain on top of the TCL standings with a 6-1 record.
SALINEVILLE -- Travis Foreman collected 20 points and 14 rebounds as East Palestine maintained its first-place lead in the Tri-County League with a 49-43 victory over Southern Tuesday night in a boys high school basketball game.
Dan Hanolt added eight rebounds, five points and three assists while Jake Harvey had nine points and three assists to bolster East Palestine (8-3, 6-1 TCL).
The Bulldogs made 14-for-27 from the field and 19-for-36 from the foul line.
Dan DeSellum tossed in 22 points to lead Southern (8-5, 3-4 TCL).
Crestview 50, Lisbon 46
NEW WATERFORD -- Tony Amabile scored 16 points for Crestview (9-4, 5-2 TCL), which won for the fourth time in its last five games.
Andrew Kestner added 11 rebounds and Andy Walton pulled down eight for the Rebels, who led 21-12 at halftime.
Corey Smith scored 15 points to pace Lisbon (5-7, 4-3), while Steve Tsilimos added 14.
Leetonia 59, United 57
LEETONIA -- Jon Williams scored 12 points for Leetonia, which snapped a two-game losing streak.
Aaron Valentine and Corey Rauschenbach added 10 points each for the Bears (7-6, 3-4 TCL), while Andy Kisner and Corey Creamer scored nine points each.
Creamer also had 11 rebounds, while Josh Selway finished with six assists and Rauschenback had five steals.
United (3-8, 2-5) was led by Tyler Boyle with 17 points, while Rob Muhleman added 13 and Dan Shaffer had 10. The Golden Eagles had a chance to win the game at the buzzer with a 3-pointer, but it bounced off.
Wellsville 58, Columbiana 52
WELLSVILLE -- Zack Welch hit five 3-point goals and scored 25 points to lead Wellsville past Columbiana.
Josh Lyle added 16 points for the (9-3, 4-3 TCL).
Columbiana (4-9, 2-5 TCL) was led by Cory Guy with 14 points and Joey Winters added 10.
