Lawsuit seeks road reinstatement

LISBON -- Three men have asked for a Columbiana County Common Pleas Court order that county Engineer Bert Dawson reinstate part of a road and that Washington Township trustees maintain it.
Kenneth A. Johns of Alliance, William H. Gill Jr. of Canton and David E. Gill of Louisville filed the lawsuit Monday.
They say they bought 79 acres in the township in 2003 that they use for hunting, hiking and camping. The township had been maintaining about 3,432 feet of Oak Grove Road that leads to a house on the property.
But Dawson later removed that portion of the road leading to the house from the county's official list of roads. The trustees then refused to maintain that part of the road, the lawsuit says.
The men claim that as a result, they have no way to get onto the property.
