Recovering: Blue Jackets left winger Rick Nash, 22, has 12 goals and seven assists in 22 games. Nash, who led the NHL in goals in the 2003-04 season, missed the Blue Jackets' first 11 games with an ankle injury. Then he missed 17 more with a sprained knee suffered on Nov. 3. Nash and Nikolai Zherdev skate on the wings for center Sergei Fedorov. Captain Adam Foote, who won the Stanley Cup twice with the Colorado Avalanche, is playing again after a groin injury. He's missed 17 games this season.
Difference at home: The Blue Jackets are 12-12-0 in games at Nationwide Arena. Their record is 6-18-2 and why they are 14th in the 15-team Western Conference.
Man advantages: The Blue Jackets scored on four of nine power plays while the Canucks were two of six.
Former Penguin: Center Jan Hrdina, formerly of the Pittsburgh Penguins, is fourth in team scoring in his first season in Columbus. In 44 games, Hrdina has seven goals and 15 assists. "We were pretty patient with the puck our [defense] did a great job shooting the puck to create rebounds," Hrdina said. "It's a huge win for us. We didn't play well in Nashville last game and we needed to rebound."
Coming up: The Blue Jackets have four home games remaining before the NHL shuts down for most of February for the Winter Olympics. Friday, the Blue Jackets host the Minnesota Wild for a 7 p.m. game. Only single tickets remain for Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators. The Blue Jackets' home games in February are on the 8th against the Los Angeles Kings and 10th against the Colorado Avalanche. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
