Liverpool fireman sentenced for DUI

LISBON -- An East Liverpool firefighter said he accepted responsibility for his drunken driving that injured three adults and a 9-year-old girl.
Jeffrey L. Boyd of Wyoming Ave., East Liverpool, had pleaded guilty to four counts of vehicular assault and one count of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Boyd's Jeep collided with the vehicle containing the victims on Dresden Avenue in Liverpool Township around 4:45 p.m. Feb. 17, 2005.
On Monday, Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge C. Ashley Pike sentenced Boyd to four years of community control sanctions, a form of probation, on the fourth-degree felonies. He was also sentenced to 90 days in the county jail on the misdemeanor traffic charge.
Judge Pike suspended Boyd's driver's license for three years and fined him $500. Boyd was also ordered to spend 60 hours of community service talking to students about the dangers of alcohol.
In court, Boyd indicated he was a construction worker. He is on administrative leave from the fire department.
