INITIATIVES On the table

Here are the first nine crime-fighting initiatives proposed by Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory and backed by police and community leaders:
A mandate for cooperation among police, city officials, schools, and residents.
Making better use of crime data.
Merging the police department's vice and drug enforcement units.
Aggressively enforcing forfeiture and property seizure ordinances to target mid-level drug dealers.
Targeting the 50 most violent criminals with aggressive policing strategies.
Coordinating tips through residents, Crimestoppers, the media and beat officers.
Asking the U.S. attorney to prosecute more cases in federal court.
Strengthening working relationships with local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Conducting regular truancy sweeps in hot spots.
